TopSpec Fibre Plus cubes 20kg

TopSpec FibrePlus Cubes are ideal for good doers or as a hay replacer. 

They should be thought of as exceptionally high quality, high fibre cubes. The formula is cereal-grain-free, very low in starch and sugar, ‘Non-Heating’ and contains good quality protein sources to help maintain muscle function and repair. This helps to avoid the ‘fat but not fit’ situation which often occurs when good doers are fed low quality high-fibre cubes, which often contain large quantities of alkali-treated straw. We guarantee that no straw is included in these cubes. 

The highly digestible fibre in these cubes is a food source for the beneficial bacteria in the hindgut, therefore, helping to maintain a healthy digestive system. The digestion of the fibre in these cubes will lead to a ‘warming’ effect in the hindgut, which is very beneficial to horses in cold weather (especially veterans).

FibrePlus Cubes can be fed dry or soaked in cold or warm water for about 20 minutes to reach the desired consistency. Soaking is helpful for elderly horses, horses with problem teeth and horses that bolt their feed. We find that 1kg of FibrePlus Cubes will replace 2kg of meadow hay for most horses. 

FibrePlus Cubes are designed to be added to a TopSpec feed balancer or TopSpec All-in-One multi-supplement and therefore contain no added vitamins or trace-elements. That is why we call them a ‘blend,’ because they are a blend of straight raw materials rather than a complete feed. One of the ways in which they are superior to most straights, however, is that they have been supplemented with the major minerals calcium, sodium and magnesium.

In most circumstances, horses and ponies benefit from eating fibre in the form of long or chopped forage. However, there are situations where this is not possible and times when a low calorie/high fibre cube is desirable. 

FibrePlus Cubes are suitable for:-

• Horses and ponies that cannot chew effectively, e.g. the elderly, because they are an essential source of pre-ground fibre. FibrePlus Cubes will provide a good complete feed for elderly horses when fed with TopSpec Senior Feed Balancer.
• Horses and ponies prone to laminitis, as a safe, very low-calorie maintenance feed.
• Good doers, as a very low-calorie feed. Ideal for snack balls.
• Sharp or ‘fizzy’ horses, or young horses being trained, as a reassuringly ‘Non-Heating’ feed.
